We do not have COCA in Montgomery County so we do not provide Narcan kits at Pottstown Hospital even though we have warm hand off counselors.

57:58
This is Mike Krafick with Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission. I am the CRS Supervisor and we've had a Warm Hand-off program since 2015 in the 3 hospitals in our Counties. We use CRS staff and Case Managers as a team to work with individuals that present at the ED or other areas of the hospital for referrals to treatment and other support services

Hi, my name is Heather Teufel and I am a pharmacist in the ED at Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital and also lead our Opioid Use Disorder Task Force. We are also distributing Narcan, at no cost, to at risk patients. This includes patients with an OUD, but also patients who are at a higher risk of and opioid overdose (co-prescribed other sedatives with opioids or on high MME doses of opioids). We provide this to patients in the ED and on the inpatient floors. Our pharmacists actually meet with the patient and provide education on recognition and management of an overdose, how to utilize Narcan and the importance of calling 911. Ideally, there is a family member or friend available to listen to the education (pre-COVID). Our Narcan was initially supplied by Chester County D&A (no cost), and our hospital/pharmacy dept has agreed to continue this program with agreement that we will pick up any copays or the cost for those without insurance.
